IT Security

The transition from closed, wire-bound to open, radio-based communication routes is performed for efficiency and cost reasons and creates new challenges regarding the data security in rail system - the IT security. Functional safety has thus far been the prime focus for many rail systems, e.g. train control systems such as LZB. However, open systems require IT security to be taken into account, as well to prevent possible, unauthorised penetration of the system and potentially dangerous data manipulations. In addition to the EN 50159 standard, which has already come into force, development support measures such as risk and weak-point analysis and penetration tests must in future be stepped up to ensure IT security of safety-critical rail systems.

Our service portfolio also includes:

  • Risk analysis for the identification of threats from the IT security point of view
  • Specification of IT security requirements
  • Design and specification of safety system architectures
  • Weak-point analyses for existing systems
  • Penetration tests
